Many machines in the under $300 price range offer many utility stitches and then a handful of satin stitches, the Singer Curvy 8763 includes some of the more fancy decorative stitches. As well as straight, zigzag, stretch and blind hem stitches there are a number of satin stitches and decorative stitches like Greek Key, Entredeux, Vine, Serpentine, Honeycomb, and Criss Cross.
Also there are two styles of one-step bartack buttonholes.The width of the stitch and the length are adjustable up to 7mm depending on the stitch selected. The stitches of the Singer Curvy 8763 are selected by way of the five selection buttons on the front of the machine. The top thread tension also features an 'automatic' setting but is also adjustable if needed for the work you are performing. Also the Singer Curvy 8763 has five snap-on style presser feet that are included and are as follows: General Purpose, Zipper, Satin, Blindstitch, and the Buttonhole foot. Several additional presser feet can be bought individually. Also the presser foot lever has three settings. The fully down position is used during sewing. The up position is used when placing or removing material from under the presser foot. The Singer Curvy 8763 also has an extra high position to make it easier to slip thicker layers of fabric under the presser foot. For a moderate priced sewing machine the Singer Curvy 8763 has so many features like Singer's Drop and Sew bobbin system which is really easy to use. All you need to do is load the bobbin, and drop the bobbin in place, draw the thread through the side slot and the machine handles the rest. it also features an automatic needle threader which means you only need to guide the cotton through the tension slots and down to the needle and the threader pushes the thread through the eye for you.The extension table of the Singer Curvy 8763 is removable and allows for free-arm sewing. Cuffs and pant legs can be slipped over the arm for completion or hemming.
The machine is also capable of doing twin needle sewing although the twin needle for the Singer Curvy 8763 must be purchased separately. There is also a darning plate which is included to help with mending tasks. A work light over the work space of the Singer Curvy 8763 makes seeing a breeze, also has a built-in carrying handle, and many sewing accessories like extra bobbins, needles, spool caps, a screwdriver, and a seam ripper.The control panel of the Singer Curvy 8763 is so easy to operate. Illustrations of the built-in stitches are printed on the front panel in rows of five each and a selection button to the right of each row cycles through the options. A LED light on the front pane of the Singer Curvy 8763 indicates which stitch has been selected. Immediately below that are the length and width buttons and a reverse stitch button is very conveniently located above the needle arm.
